Day 10 Briefing in English
Our progress today was hampered by wind and a series of appalling pressure ridges.
We awoke to strong winds and decided to hang in the tent until late in the morning in the hopes that the winds would abate, but no such luck. Combined with the -28F temperatures, the wind made our day very uncomfortable.
At these temperatures, breaks – if you can call them that – are nothing more than 30 seconds to eat something. We usually eat on the go.
The real trick is going to the bathroom….
We have encountered several leads, all of them solidly frozen. The pressure ridges have been mostly comprised of symmetrical blocks, which make hauling the sleds up and over extremely difficult.
Though we were on skis yesterday when we had better conditions, today we were on snowshoes.
Our position in degrees, minutes and seconds is N83.32.31, W77.31.45
