Rough Ice

Uphill Struggle
We made 6.9 nautical miles in 7 hours…
We had poor ice conditions and headwinds which brought in low visibility.
When the visibility is low, and when you get white-out conditions, it is amazing how hard your eyes work just to get a “fix” on anything. There is no contrast – everything is white – and it is difficult to gauge the terrain.
In these conditions it’s not hard to lose your balance, and at the end of the day you are exhausted!
If all goes well, and if weather conditions are favorable we will receive our first resupply tomorrow. Though our sleds will get heavy again, there are a few goodies in the resupply that we are looking forward to getting… it’s like Santa Claus dropped a bag from his sled
